For First Class and higher ranked scouts Den Chief Training is being offered at Ockanickon on Saturday, April 2nd, from 9am-4pm. The cost is $20 and includes lunch. If anyone is interested, please contact Mr. Fallacaro.
Outdoor Leader Training for adults will be held at Ockanickon on April 1-2. This training is recommended for new Assistant Scoutmasters and any adults that will be working directly with our scouts. Troop 30 will pay all fees. Please contact Mr. Fallacaro if you are interested in attending or have any questions regarding the training.
For our April camping trip, the boys are hoping to attend the Playwicki District Spring Camporee at Tyler State Park on April 29th – May 1st. The cost will be $35 for scouts, no charge for adults. Our boys really want to participate in this event, however, Mr. Fallacaro and Mr. Greenberg are unable to attend. We’ll need at least 1 fully trained adult and 2 others with at least Youth Protection training to volunteer in order to make this trip happen. Adults and crew members willing and able to attend, please contact Mr. Fallacaro as soon possible.
Our troop is going to Ockanickon for Summer Camp the week of July 3-9. For more details see the flyer posted on our website or click here. Please note, the regular rate of $354 is due by April 18th and one adult volunteer is needed to attend a Leaders Meeting at Ockanickon on April 30th from 8:30am-3:30pm. There is now a parent’s guide on Ockanickon’s website at the following address: http://www.ockanickon.org/wp-content/uploads/ParentsGuidetoOSR.pdf
General Reminders:
Troop Website and Email: Just a reminder, our troop website is www.t30bcc.org. The Troop 30 email list is for the exclusive use of the members, families and friends of Troop 30. To send a message to this list: type troop30@t30bcc.org as the destination. You must send the email from an account that is already receiving troop mail, otherwise it will be rejected. To subscribe or unsubscribe from this list, please send an email to liz@arosser.com. Also, when sending a troop message, please include the text “Troop 30” in the subject so everyone realizes that the message is being sent to the entire troop.
Families that wish to purchase scrip: Please bring your check to the first troop meeting of the month and specify whether you want it for Giant or McCaffrey’s. You must purchase a minimum of $100 of which 5% goes into your scout’s troop account. Checks should be made payable to “Troop 30”. Mrs. Pepin will purchase and distribute the store cards at the following meeting.
Scouts, please note: The updates to the 2010 Rank Requirements are posted on the troop web-site under Checklists. The 8-page pdf file makes a 16-page booklet when printed double-sided, landscape. All scouts with pre-2010 books should print this file and add it to their book. The new requirements are effective January 1, 2010 which means scouts can use the old requirements to finish whatever rank they were working on 1/1/2010, but must use the new requirements for their next rank advancement. For example, if you were 2nd Class on 1/1/2010, you can use the old requirements to finish 1st Class, but must start using the new requirements for Star. If you are unsure of your rank on 1/1/2010, please check with Mrs. Fallacaro.
